LETTER FROM FOUNDER
 Dear Cool the Earth Community,
Once in a while something comes along that captures your heart and mind so wholly that it carries you to another place.
Hire the sitter, call Grandma, and go see "Beasts of the Southern Wild," a magical-realistic independent film debut by Benh Zeitlin. You'll be swept away by the intensity and fragility of a little girl's life in the Southern bayou. You'll contemplate her wisdom as she ponders that everything in the universe is connected. You'll admire her fierce conviction in believing that although she is small, she can solve big problems.

Quvenzhané Wallis plays Hushpuppy in a film about family and community and life in a wet and stormy place.
Hushpuppy, the 6-year old knockout star of the film, learns from her teacher, "Any day now, the fabric of the universe is coming unraveled . . . Y'all better learn to survive." Climate change is destroying Hushpuppy's fringe community situated outside the protections of New Orleans' levees, and their very survival is at stake.
Fiction though it may be, Beasts reveals the most real story there is-families affected by climate change.
Beasts tells what each of us needs to tell everyday: climate change isn't about the weather, or politics or money. Climate change is about us.
